Tucson Air Show Thunder & Lightning Over Arizona
Now, we just experienced our third wettest monsoon season ever this past summer. But those storms do not come close to the amazing air show that Thunder & Lightning Over Arizona puts on each year. And it hits the skies above Davis-Monthan Air Force Base this weekend!
The world-famous Thunderbirds headline the weekend's schedule of events. If you have never had the chance to see their feats of aerial acrobatics, just sit tight. They are truly amazing pilots. DMAFB's A-10C Thunderbolt II Demonstration Team as well as the Desert Lightning Team Combat Search and Rescue join the Thunderbirds, too. Other teams planning to take to the skies during this two-day event include the USAF F-35A Lighting II Demo Team, the USN's F/A-18 Super Hornet Demo Team, and an appearance by the Navy's Leap Frogs parachute team. Those are just a few of the acts you can expect to see. Plus, view more than 100 aircraft from early days to present up close and personal out on the tarmac.
Tickets for the Air Show
General admission tickets cost nothing. Simply show up and see the show. But for a truly unique experience, pay for a primo seat. Premium Box Seats cost $55 per person on Saturday and $45 on Sunday. With this ticket, you get a seat right on the flight line. So, you never miss a moment of the action. Visit concession booths right outside of the box seat area when you get hungry. Plus stay cooler in the shade. Private restroom facilities are also available for Premium Box Seat ticket holders.
For the adults, watch the air show while sipping a beer in the Bier Garten. These tickets cost $65 on Saturday and $55 on Sunday. The ticket price gets you a complimentary first beer as well as reserved seating in an exclusive 21+ area with shade available if the sun gets too warm. They also have private restroom facilities here.
However, for the ultimate experience, purchase a seat in the Thunderbolt Club. Tickets for this cost $165 for adults aged 16+ and $110 for kids ages 4-15 on Saturday. Sunday's show runs slightly less at $150 for adults and $100 for kids. But, this really is a VIP experience. You receive a lovely continental breakfast when you arrive first thing in the morning. Then, enjoy a catered lunch served buffet-style as well as refreshments provided throughout the day. Both covered and outside seating is available on the flight line. Enjoy unlimited soda and water all day long. For the adults, feel free to visit the cash bar. Plus, receive access to private, air-conditioned restrooms when needed.
All of these special tickets are going fast. So, if you want to "up your game" at this Tucson air show, you need to purchase your tickets right now.
